Feedback from our school programs

StarTime Studios held an extremely professional and interactive short film workshop for our students at St Catherine’s School, Waverley. The workshop was extremely useful and appropriate to what we were teaching and the children’s enthusiasm after the event was lifted sky high.

I was looking for something to help me teach different text types in an engaging way. Lindsay Moss came back to me with some creative ideas to teach these through film. We focused on developing a short film narrative which my students really enjoyed….. Lindsay was very flexible with producing a theme based around what the girls were learning about in class. The team at StarTime use special effects to edit the films so they can even be based around the Solar System or British Colonisation! It was also great that I could build the filming program into my classroom program through English, HSIE, Science and Technology, ICT and Drama.

The students truly enjoyed the experience and many girls now want to do holiday workshops with StarTime. Lindsay and Richard worked with us and their enthusiasm when working with the children made the program even more memorable. Thank you!

The workshop that was provided for our students enabled them to experience compiling a text type from the initial thought process through to the final filming of their work. Having a specific purpose to construct text gave them an added incentive to be fully involved at all stages of construction. The actual preparing for, and filming, on the day was an experience I encourage others to provide for their students. The students were totally absorbed. They were encouraged and extended in a supportive environment. They learnt much about the film processes. The excitement engendered was motivational in itself and has given our students a broader understanding of the genre of film as well as providing them with some initial skills in this area.

Sorry I did not get to see your concert yesterday. I heard such wonderful reports from the parents and the children. The parents were absolutely delighted with the progress that the girls have made in such a short time. Congratulations!
