Learn digital photography tricks and techniques as you go behind the scenes of a photography studio and create your very own photographic masterpiece!

Explore the magic of digital photography in an inspiring atmosphere with StarTime’s brand new workshop: Photographic Fun! Learn the behind-the-scenes tricks used to make a striking and impactful photograph using digital technology.

At StarTime, we believe in empowering young people to consume media and technology in a way that is constructive, healthy and responsible, as well as fun! In today’s world we are constantly bombarded by digitally created images intended to inform, entertain, and persuade us. Now more than ever, it is important for young people to have an understanding of how these images are created and manipulated, in order to think critically about the processes involved in manufacturing a seemingly “perfect” image.

During our studio shoot session, learn to utilise light, subject and composition to capture your own unique photographs. Then put your imaginative instincts to the test using iPad photography apps to construct your own brand new digital artwork from your photographs. Our young photographers will have the best photo of their reel printed and framed to take home at the end of the day.

Outcomes

Participants will:

• Learn digital photography basics in a fun and inspiring atmosphere
• Understand basic photographic concepts in:
  Composition; Rule of thirds – Limb chops – Leading lines – Fill the frame – Negative Space
  Lighting; Catchlights – Backlighting – Low light – Window light
• Learn fundamental visual literacy and critical thinking skills to question whether photographic images are real or constructed
  Utilise iPad photography equipment and apps to turn their original photographs into new artworks
• Receive a printed and framed copy of their best photographic masterpiece
