FAQs

Our programs are designed to be inclusive and engaging for all students, whether it’s their first time or they’ve participated for multiple terms. Our coaches revisit key foundations at the beginning of each term, so everyone starts on the same page. For more experienced students, we provide extension activities that challenge and extend their skills while allowing coaches to focus on supporting newer participants.
Students often work in groups, creating a collaborative environment where peers can help each other grow. We also have a floating StarTime coach available to offer extra support to those who need it, especially in the first two weeks when new students are trialing the program.
Above all, our goal is to make learning fun and meaningful. If your child isn’t enjoying themselves, we’d love to hear your feedback so we can continue to improve and ensure the experience meets their needs and interests.
Yes, absolutely! We encourage students to explore during the first two weeks of term. If two programs run at the same time, your child is welcome to try one in week 1 and the other in week 2. From week 3, we ask families to choose one program to commit to so we can provide a consistent and rewarding experience for all participants.
Yes, each term is designed to build on the skills and experiences from the previous term or semester. Whether your child is returning or just starting, they’ll be supported to grow in confidence, creativity, and collaboration. Our programs are not only about developing skills but also about sparking inspiration and fostering a love of learning.

StarTime programs are billed by the school. No payment is collected by StarTime.

Our before and after school programs are designed to suit the following year groups:

Debating: Yr 3-4 and Yr 5-6

Visual FX Filmmaking: Yr 3-6 and Yr 7-9

Sphero Robotics: Yr 1 and Yr 2

Tap & Jazz: K-2

Drama Club: Kindy, Yr 1-2 and Yr 3-6

Musical Theatre: Yr 1-6

Before school workshops run from 7:45am – 8:30am.

After school workshops run from 3:15pm – 4:15pm, except our filmmaking program runs from 3:15pm – 4:30pm.

Please keep your child at home if they are too sick to attend, or if they have an airborne illness and are coughing.
If your child is sick and can no longer attend the workshop, please email [email protected] immediately so that we can notify the Head Coach.

For afternoon classes:

  • K–3 students: StarTime Coaches will escort students to the school reception area at the scheduled end time for parent pickup.

  • Years 4–6 students: Students must be collected at the gate unless StarTime has received written permission from a parent allowing them to walk home alone.

  • If you need to pick up your child early, you must collect them directly from the classroom.

For morning classes:

  • Parents cannot drop off their child earlier than the class start time.

  • StarTime Coaches are not responsible for students before 7:45am.

It’s essential that you provide up-to-date pick-up information in the ‘Additional Notes’ section of the online registration form. This includes the full name and phone number of any person (other than yourself) who may be collecting your child.

In case of an emergency, please also ensure that you list an alternative emergency contact name and number that is different from your own. This helps us ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children in our care.

Yes, early pickups can be arranged. If you need to collect your child before the end of class, please inform the StarTime Coach or contact us in advance. Upon arrival, you will need to sign your child out for safety and record-keeping purposes.

It is at least a ratio of 1:15 children per educator.

In line with the Office of the Children’s Guardian, we generally do not allow adults to remain in the room during workshops unless they are StarTime-trained staff or have a verified and current Working With Children Check (WWCC).

However, we understand that some children—especially younger ones—may need extra support settling in. In special circumstances, if a parent holds a current WWCC and has concerns, they may stay during the warm-up games to help their child feel comfortable. After that, we kindly ask all parents to leave the room, as having adults present throughout the session can compromise the focus and experience for all participants.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us create a safe and engaging environment for all children.

For tap classes, children will need tap shoes. For Drama or Musical Theatre, any required props or costume items will be communicated in advance by the StarTime Coach. Otherwise, school uniforms are fine. If your child prefers to wear something more flexible for the class, they’re welcome to change beforehand.

  • A water bottle to stay hydrated.
  • A snack if they need extra energy after school, but please ensure it is nut-free to avoid allergy risks.

Anything which is left behind by children will be left at the venue. Our StarTime coaches are instructed not to take any lost property with them.

1. Disclosing Medical or Behavioural Conditions

When registering, please disclose any medical or behavioural conditions in the ‘Additional Information’ field. This helps us ensure we have the appropriate staff and resources to safely manage all children in our care. If you’re unsure about what to disclose, we encourage you to share, and we will contact you for further information if needed.

2. Safety and Precautions

  • Appropriate safety precautions and instructions are provided at the start of each program to ensure all children understand how to stay safe during the workshop.
  • Our staff are dedicated to creating a safe and secure environment for all participants.

3. If Your Child Becomes Unwell

If your child becomes unwell during the workshop, our program staff will contact you to arrange for an immediate pick-up. Parents/Guardians must provide up-to-date emergency contact information, and the named emergency contact must be available to pick up the child at short notice.

4. Anaphylaxis and Allergy Management

We take anaphylaxis and allergies seriously:

  • Any child requiring an EpiPen must bring it to the workshop, as per the ASCIA Guidelines.
  • Please hand the EpiPen to one of our staff members upon arrival at sign-in.
  • Ensure all relevant allergy information is provided during registration so we can be fully prepared to manage your child’s needs.

5. Emergency Procedures

In the event of an emergency, our facilitators are trained to:

  • Safely evacuate all children from the building.
  • Follow safety protocols to ensure every child is accounted for and protected.
  • Cancellations made more than 7 days before the start of the term will receive a full refund.
  • Cancellations made less than 7 days before the term begins or during the term are non-refundable.
  • Exceptions may apply in the case of medical or exceptional circumstances. Please contact us directly to discuss your situation.
