Create and Animate

Stop, collaborate and animate! This is the next level in animation.

Using the same concepts of Stop motion animation, in this workshop you get to use your cartooning skills to draw your own animation. Using layers, colours, shapes and sounds you’ll be able to create short animated films using drawings that only your imagination can limit! 
Teams will create imaginary characters and thrilling stories using this creative film technique. Kids will write their scripts, draw out each scene, edit and create character voices to bring their stories to life. They will take on various production roles including, producer, artistic director, editor, foley artist, voice over artist and more…
As with all StarTime workshops, the day will be punctuated with fun creative games linked to the purpose of the day.

Outcomes

Participants will:

• Create an animated film on an ipad
• Learn a popular animation software suitable for young creators
• Employ collaborative problem solving skills
• Learn fundamental filmmaking techniques in: story, characterisation, frame-rate, editing.
• Take on roles such as artistic director, sound designer, editor and more
• Develop bonds through sharing achievements within a team
